I tried to replace my air filter twice when I first got my car, but both times, getting the housing back on was by far the biggest problem. I wasn’t able to get it back on all the way, so the filter housing leaked air and messed up the whole carburation of the engine. I had to take it to my Subaru specialist to have him fix it. From then on, I just had him replace it for me. That was in northern CA where there were lots of Subarus and therefore Subaru specialists who were relatively inexpensive compared to the dealer. Now I live in Florida where there are few Subarus and no repair specialists other than the typical over-priced dealer, so I”m back to doing it myself. But your video doesn’t show me the part I can’t get right – how to get the housing back on in that terrible cramped location at the back of the engine up against the firewall. This vid was no help to me at all – Zero!

Cool, thanks for the video, I was having a tiny bit of a hard time and just didn’t want to break anything. I just needed to know if there was anything holding the underside together.
