Kids’ Felt Puppy Toys – Free sewing patterns – Sew Magazine

These simple dogs will be sure to tempt little folk to give stitching a try. Working from templates, they will learn to cut the required pieces from felt, placing them together to form the toy. Once the pieces are stitched together they are filled with stuffing and instantly come alive! The cut pieces of felt also make a great canvas for embellishing – from embroidery and appliqué to fabric paints and sequins, encourage kids to unleash their creativity, but I recommend covering the table with a cloth first! Once they have made these puppies why not encourage them to draw templates for other toys, using the same principles as this project to create a whole menagerie of different animals. Let's face it, if you’re going to end up with a house full of pets, better that they be these felt variety, which don't require feeding or cleaning up after!
